Choi's Don and Dak Gal Bi!

Just when you think you've run out of Dak Gal Bi joints to check out, then comes Choi's Don & Dak! Opened by Mrs Choi who hails from Incheon, South Korea, her restaurant is where you need to go to taste really yummy Dak Gal Bi (Grilled Chicken) and Jumuluck (Grilled Pork). She prepares the marinades, side dishes and meat personally so that everything that comes out from the kitchen is up to her standard. Also, she's all about fresh ingredients and using less oil and preservatives!

It's just a few shop lots away from Snowflake.

The tables and grills are imported from South Korea which in a way, makes the experience more authentic, don't you think?

I had the chance to try the grilled chicken and pork with other food bloggers. This here is the Jumuluck table where Mrs Choi said is with the spicy sauce. Price per person is RM22.50. Add RM2 if you want the spicy sauce.

This is the Dak Gal Bi table which I sat which had the non-spicy sauce. Both pans have the usual ingredients of cabbage, tokpokgi, mushrooms with the marinated meat at the bottom. Price per person is RM19.80.

It's not completed yet!

At this stage, the waiter will add in the extra ingredients which you can order beforehand, here he added the mushrooms (RM8) and sausages (RM8).

At the last stage, usually they'll add in the noodles, Korean udon noodles (RM7) was added to the Dak Gal Bi.

We asked the waiter to shape it into a heart since well, it's good food porn! The chicken pieces was really tender and sweet, it was so flavourful thanks to the marinade! I like how you don't feel very thirsty after eating this since it's not overcooked and the ingredients are all fresh.

Here's the Jumuluck pan, where the same add ons were added but instead of udon noodles, Korean ramyun noodles (RM6) were added instead.

And topped with Mozzarella cheese (RM8)!!!

Cheese is good!!! Also, it wasn't as spicy as I expected. The pork pieces are marinated to perfection just like the chicken! However, I prefer the chicken, somehow it's more sweeter and delicious!!!

She cooked us some Korean Ramyun (RM12) too which I think I had before but I can't remember the brand and flavour. I thought it tasted a bit bland, maybe it's because of the awesome grill meat.

Next, we tried the Korean Jjapaghetti (RM7.80). I guess this is instant noodles like the Korean ramyun. However, I have tried instant Jjajang noodles and I am not a big fan of them. I rather have the freshly made Jjangmyun because the sauce and noodles taste totally different and way nicer than the instant ones.
So, I'm not a fan of this.

Lastly, the waiter cooked us some Fried Rice with Dry Laver aka Seaweed (RM7). Cooked rice, seaweed, kimchi and cabbage are cooked in the empty pan because we basically finished both pans. That's how good it is!

Heat some sesame oil then everything is cooked together. Then, it is flattened so that the bottom is evenly grilled and it's scrapped into a roll and it goes into our tummy!

Most of us had Mocktails as it was recommended by Mrs Choi so they have the virgin Mojito and Pina Colada (Both are RM7.50 per glass). The mojito was refreshing after having grilled food while the pina colada has a strong coconut taste.

I had the Shirley Temple (RM6.50) which was a strawberry soda. I am not a fan of carbonated drinks but I like Shirley Temples!

Thank you Mrs Choi for your kind hospitality! I'm definitely coming back for your awesome Dak Gal  Bi! :D

Have some healthy gourmet coffee with Luvoco!

Ever drank coffee that has Ganoderma Lucidum, more commonly known as Lingzhi in it? I never heard of it or even tasted it until I had a taste of Luvoco (Love of Coffee), the healthier gourmet coffee. Created by Gano Excel Industries who's the leading producer of organic Ganoderma and it has the largest plantation in the world.

Reasons this 'king of herbs' is good for you:
- It helps to flush out the toxins in your body
- Strengthens your immune system
- May help in preventing and treating diseases such as cancer, diabetes and many more because it contains more than 200 bioactive ingredients!

Curious, I made my way to Luvoco's launch at Connexion@Nexus, Bangsar South. Whats really special about Luvoco coffee capsules? It has 100% water soluble Ganoderma Lucidum extract, means you're getting generous amounts of healthy vitamins from that and the coffee too! Win win situation!

I felt that I was under dressed, my smart casual attire had more casual in it then smart. :P It was a little intimidating as there was many businessmen and women. But, there was an orchestra troop who played famous pop songs like Fireworks by Katy Perry which was pretty cool! Classy but cool!

After the launch, we were then ushered to the next room where we got to try the three coffee capsule varieties which are Amoroso- Smooth & Gentle, Raffinato- Refined & Distinct and Classico- Rich and Deep.
I went for Amoroso first, it was a bit sour so I don't really like it but it's a light coffee and surprisingly you can't taste any Ganoderma at all.

We got to vote for our favourites by dropping some coffee beans into the vases that was set up along each booth.

My favourite blend was the Raffinato, it was just the right amount of bitterness and it comes in a variety of flavours which you can add to your coffee! The winners to me was the vanilla and hazelnut! The only downside is that you have to add in the flavour syrup yourself and you have to purchase it separately.

Whereas, for Classico, it's a strong black coffee which is not favourite type of coffee unless it's so good, in this case, it was ok. I rather stick with the Raffinato.

I like the machine's design, it's a simple to use machine with a modern look. The size is not too bulky either so it'll fit in nicely in your kitchen, office and room, if you don't like to share. :P

Thank you for the goodies, Luvoco! I can't wait to try the Gano tea in my new cup! The notebook is really nice too with a generous amount of sticky notes! Everyone needs sticky notes!

The camera made me look so white but I'm glad the picture turned out nice! :)

On a random note, the beau and I had lunch at San Nae Deul Korean Restaurant after the event and we ordered the lunch sets that were available. Surroundings wise, it is a nicely decorated restaurant with attentive staffs too but food wise, now that's a different story.

It was one of the worst meals I have ever had. After a few difficult spoonfuls, I gave up. The sauce was thick and it tasted like a refrigerator. It was mushy and very unappetizing. Actually it made the beau and I lose our appetite after eating this. I don't think we are ever going back there.

Cafe Korea, Sri Petaling

Yes, another cafe for them cafe hopping folks to check out! This time we head to one that's inspired by Japan's neighboring country for a Korean wave at Cafe Korea! Situated beside Kinrara mamak, it's a cozy and pricier place to yumcha but who can say no to a place that has a wide range of Pat Bing Su (Korean ice kacang) and imported Korean instant noodles?

The beau ordered the Butterscotch Latte which was not bad! Wrong move for ordering it during dinner because he has a sleepless night. :P

OMG OMG OMG THIS JJAJANG MYEON WAS SO GOOD!!! I'M SALIVATING JUST BY LOOKING AT IT! THIS IS AS GOOD AS THE ONE I HAD BACK IN LOTTE WORLD, KOREA!!! Soft yellow ramen-like noodles drenched in deliciously thick black bean sauce! The only issues the beau and I had with this is that the portion should be bigger and more sauce please! :D
Jjajang myeon- RM14

Each main was given a small saucer with pickled radish which gave a nice crunchy bite to our meals.

I ordered the Kimchi fried noodles since there was a promotion going on that night where we get a cup of green tea for only RM14. Not for people who can't
take spicy food and is not a kimchi fan because it's a yummy kimchi goodness! I hope they make their own kimchi because it's has the right balance of sour, sweet and spicy!
Kimchi noodles with chicken (Option: Rice)- RM14

We ordered the Milk Pat Bingsu and it's not much to rave about. It's tasteless and you're only getting some sweetness from the red beans. The mochi is really yummy though! It has red bean filling but somehow, there's honey in it too! I accidentally ate most of the mochi so the beau was a little upset. :P
Milk Pat Bingsu- RM13

I wasn't full enough so I thought of trying the Pumpkin Porridge. Bad move because it's tasteless just like the bingsu. It would be nice if it was sweeten with some honey or sugar.
Pumpkin porridge- RM8

- Prices might be slighty inaccurate because I forgot to take pictures of the menu.

I would try some of their instant noodles next round, but mostly I would go back for the Jjajang myeon! :D If anyone has any of their instant noodles and other bingsu flavours to recommend, do let me know!
