Birthday and Christmas presents from 2014 with some reviews and swatches

Who doesn't love getting presents? I love it more when my presents come from my favourite people! Thank you very much to everyone that wished me and the ones who gave me these awesome gifts! You know who you are. :) Take a look at what I got last year!

My birthday presents! :)

These nail polishes are apparently scented once dry, can't wait to try these beauties out!

I love the pastel pink colour of the card! Also, I haven't used it yet. :P

One of the best gift ever! I love Marc Jacobs and I wanted to try his line too so thank you for reading my mind! Swatches will be up soon in an oncoming post!

These are the contents of the Clinique box and I can't wait to start using the cleansing balm! I have never used one so reviews and swatches will be up soon too!

This is going to be part of my traveling kit! Who doesn't want to smell like an angel on a vacation? This scent is one of the popular scents and if you're into sweet with a touch of muskiness then you'll love this! To make the scent last longer, apply the lotion after bathing with the shower gel and then spritz on the body mist!

Now onto the Christmas presents! :)

I gave a wishlist to my Secret Santa so she granted one of my wishes! Thank you my dear! :)

I love the colour! I can see why it was all the rage in South Korea at one point. It's a very flattering coral colour which looks great on the lips and the cheeks as well! It has a great staying power too since it's a stain and it's thicker than the Benetint so application is easier.

Bangles are a necessity for your outfits especially the bohemian style!

Thank you to a dear friend for these souvenirs from USA! You know that I love my bling and I am curious about the foundation too!

Another big thank you to the person who knows how much I love traveling! I'm going to use this to record down the trips that I'm going to!

Also thank you for this cute canvas! It's now part of my room interior!

Also, did you all visit the 1600 pandas exhibition in Publika last month? I looked from the outside and I thought I showed my support by getting this adorable towel! PANDAS UNITE!

I thought maybe we could start this what I got for my birthday and Christmas kind of post as a trend! It'll be fun to see what you guys got as gifts! Also, whoever's birthday that lands around this month is very lucky because you get double angpau! I hope you guys are having an awesome Chinese New Year and fellow Goats, let's be strong to get past this year smoothly! :D

A late birthday roundup (Three restaurants)

Here's my birthday roundup last year because we're already in 2015. I didn't make any resolutions last year and usually people would be reflecting on their 2014 and what not but I'm going against the current.

I did an early celebration together with the familia to celebrate my dad's birthday and mine. The beau treated the family to a Japanese A la carte Buffet at Mitasu Japanese Restaurant, Central Plaza. He's officially a senior citizen so he can take advantage of the privileges like how he was able to get the Senior Citizen rate for his meal! :P

Mi familia! :)

KL rates:
Food- 7/10
Price- About RM56 per person for Lunch
Service- 5/10
Variety- 7/10

Wrong move for us for taking the lunch buffet because I think they were being stingy with certain items on the menu, especially the Butter Fish sashimi. The few times we ordered about 12 pieces, they only brought 6 pieces out. I think dinner would be a better option.

Then, on my birthday, the beau and I had dinner at The Red Herring for some simple homey French food with a local touch, as the chef is Malaysian.

Casual OOTD wearing Dimia Top from Doublewoot, Red Shoulder Bag from Zara, Paisley shorts from G2 and Gold sandals from Ipanema.

We ordered the Salmon Pate (RM15.90) as a starter. The warm bread was crisp on the outside and soft inside which tastes delish with the cool pate, filled with generous amount of salmon flesh with little seasoning to let the salmon flavour be the star.

My favourite dish was the Pork Chops (RM32.90) and we think it's the best dish as well! Marinated in wine and garlic, the chops were flavourful and seared to perfection because it was still juicy on the inside! I'll come back for this for sure!

The beau had the Bouef Bourguignon (RM48.90) which is beef chunks braised in red wine served with a side of mash potatoes. This was a bit bland and the beef was not as tender as it's suppose to.

There was only one dessert on the menu which is the Tarte Tartin (RM12), a traditional apple tart. It was too tarty for me and the crust was lumpy because of the apple juices.

We suggest to have it with ice-cream to balance out the tartness, which you can add on for about RM3 if I'm not mistaken. It was way nicer and easier to eat with ice-cream.

Lastly, the girls planned a surprise brunch at Acme Bar and Coffee and that time the restaurant was decked in pretty Christmas decor with a festive menu to boot!

I can't help it, I love chai latte. Topped with loads of cream, it's even better!

I had the Baked Eggs which was ok, I just wish the portion is bigger and there'll be more veges underneath the eggs.

The beau had some seafood fettucini which had some curry flavour but it was a little bland too.

Spoiled Rainbow fruit cake anyone? The cake smelled and tasted weird and I know we should have complained but we were too disappointed to care. I guess the cake spoiled as it was not kept in a fridge.

I guess we're not going back there anymore for meals because it's just not worth it. Environment-wise, it is great but if only the food quality is on par.

Anyway, I'm grateful to have this bunch of crazies as my best friends who knows that I have a blackhole for a stomach.

I'm not feeling 22, the birthday roundup

Seriously, I can't believe I'm 22 already! I still feel like 21 but I took a reality check after my birthday. No big celebrations this year and I didn't feel like doing anything big. Maybe cause I'm growing too old for those sweet 16-esque/ big ol' 21 kind of parties. Anyhow, I was happy to celebrate it later with my family and close friends! :)

Also I should be hunting for jobs like all the others who already has stable job and income (peer pressure level: HIGH) but travel plans are on the way! I will jet-setting to the land of K-pop and K-dramas, South Korea with my lil sisters and the beau on the 21st this month until the 29th so I'M GOING TO BE SPENDING CHRISTMAS THERE, LIKE OMG *CUE* WINTER SONATA SCENE! I'M SO EXCITED~ AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT~

So the familia and I had dinner at Fresca Mexican Kitchen and Bar since they have never been there before. I had the Grilled Chicken and it was delish though the rice was a bit burned since the plate was sizzling hot so it was still cooking. It was my second time dining there since the first time was during KL Restaurant Week 2013 and I really liked the course they created. I should blog about it soon cause it was ages ago. After dinner we went to watch Catching Fire. It was the second time I'm watching it but I still love it! Really good movie that is a must watch for everyone!

Then I got surprised by the besties the following week. I thought it was just going to be a dinner with the beau at BLACKmarket but the whole group was there so their surprise worked!

Seriously, they just have to spell out Kraken instead of my name. -_-lll  I wanted to take the bunny bowl where they serve their tiramisu (tasted ok but I have tasted better ones elsewhere) in but I resisted. It's a very cute bunny bowl and I wonder where I can get my hands on it the legal way. Food wise, the food was just meh. It claimed to be serving semi-fine dining food but from the food presentation and taste itself, it was more of a cafe-style food. Environment wise it was semi-fine dining, I give them that. I think that's because it's right next to C.A.F.F.E.I.N.E.E.S and owned by the same family too.

My Grilled Pork with Red Wine sauce. The sauce was ok but I expected the pork to be more flavourful and the sides to be more interesting than the typical potato salad. With a price above RM20 for a main, I don't think it's worth it.

We headed to C.A.F.F.E.I.N.E.E.S anyway after dinner and we chilled a bit over there. It gets super crowded around 10pm with loads of people having drinks while they shisha the night away. Their potato wedges with sauce was good, especially the sauce! I ordered a glass of wine cause I wanted to try out one of the Muscat wine I saw in their wine menu.

Me likes this wine! Though I was a lil tipsy after that glass which was RM25. Well, at least I found another alcoholic drink that me likes. I find the menu here more interesting as well. Will come back to try out the mains and etc.

My beau and my love. :)

Thank you my dears for the surprise and the dinner and the gifts! I love ya long time! I'll post of a review of what they got for me in another post cause it's so pretty that it deserves a post of its own.

Third round is with the Karats family and we had dinner at Dancing Fish. The food here is like the usual ordering dishes to share, accompanied with a bowl of rice each. The dishes were not bad but still can't be compared to the ones you can get at coffee shops which are tastier and cheaper too. However, I love that they have Paku stir fry. You rarely find restaurants which have supply of Paku.

The cakes were from Just Heavenly. Apple Crumble, Tiramisu (Is it me or does everyone buy tiramisu cakes for birthdays? I guess it's one of the safe options!) and Chocolate cakes which was wiped cleaned at the end. So yes, the cakes were heavenly! I wish I could bake delicious cakes like that! Shall keep baking on until I get better!

Thank you for the dinner and earrings, my dear Karats! Had some wine and was tipsy also. Clearly, I can't drink to save my life. My parents should have trained me when I was younger. I could have drank more and still be able to think normally.

I'm happy that I was well-fed during my birthday!
